LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
Wednesday, June 21st
Noon 12:00 Dismissal

End-of-School Transition Tips for Families

Here are some tips on how to make the transition into summer better.

Keep schedules. Now is not the time to let the structure fall away. Maintain your family routines. Consistent bedtime routines and daytime responsibilities will make it easier to transition back to school in the fall. Incorporate daily literacy activities, for example completing a reading task before allowing technology use.

Ease any anxiety. Give them information about what to expect in the summer.

Watch Your Words. It's fun to look forward to what's next for your child, whether that's kindergarten or first grade. However, any talk about a new school year could make him/her uneasy. Some children might be moving on to a new building when this year is over and making a big transition in the fall. That's months away and most children don't have a good grasp of time yet. Ease up on the talk about how they are going to be a "big first-grader" now. If he/she tells you they are nervous about next year, don't brush it off by saying, "You'll be fine!" Instead, remind them of other new situations in which they were anxious and how it was handled. You could also tell your child a story of when you were nervous in a new situation and how you overcame your fears. Kids love to hear stories about their parents. They can't imagine that we ever have any trouble.

Reminders. Former teachers and friends will be here in the fall!

Contact list. Encourage kids to get contact info for friends they will want to keep in touch with over summer break.

Loss. Transition includes loss. Allow children to be angry, resistant, and sad.

Beat the Blues. The end of the year can also bring on some serious blues. Keep the positive up and be the best parent supporter you can be!

OVER THE SUMMER THE DELANEY SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED WHILE THE ROOF IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION! THE MAIN ENTRANCE WILL BE TAPED OFF AND NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO ENTER THROUGH THE MAIN DOORS. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. IF YOU NEED TO VISIT THE OFFICE, PLEASE USE THE PINK DOORS AT THE ANNEX END AND DRIVE CAREFULLY THROUGH THE CONSTRUCTION AREA!

MEET THE TEACHERS ASSEMBLY

MRS. DANIELSON'S 3RD GRADE CLASS
 PRACTICING A SONG!

Mrs. Pitman with Mrs.Hall's 4th grade class came to K and taught sun safety. 4th grade students were great teachers. K students learned so much about sun safety and they were able to repeat all they learned.

While we prefer that our Delaney students remain with us always, we ask that you visit the office to fill out the “Release of Records” form if for some reason your family plans to leave the district for the 2017-2018 year. You can also find the form on the website under registration and can send or fax it to us. This helps us to balance our classes as we plan for the coming year.

Thank you for reading and viewing!
